Overview:

Our most basic public health protections are under attack. At the same time our ability to provide input into the decision-making process has been whittled away. These actions are especially dire for communities of color, low-income communities, and indigenous communities, who already face disproportionate impacts from pollution, sagging infrastructure, and climate change. While United States Congressional Members of color and green organizations are stepping up to protect our communities, there is more work to be done to reverse historic wrongs and current actions being taken by the current Administration.

In episode six of Think 100%, we sit down with United States Senator Cory Booker to dig into the challenges and solutions. Also joining us are leaders from Green Peace USA, an organization at the front-lines of the biggest fights to free us from fossil fuels that are causing climate change. The League of Conservation Voters will also be dropping by to let us know just how well Members of Congress are doing to protect our communities and planet. You don’t want to miss this episode.

Overview:

Our hosts were joined by two relentless advocates fighting injustice, driving community-led solutions, and empowering the disenfranchised — Kerene Tayloe and Kelly Miller. As someone facing homelessness, Kelly gave us an incredible perspective on unreported impacts from climate change and shared how her perseverance as an advocate is helping create policy solutions. Kerene focused on empowering women, organizing climate refugees to vote, and building solutions that have lasting positive health, economic, and housing outcomes for everyone.

The National Environmental Justice Advisory Council Youth’s Perspectives on Climate Justice Workgroup, established in 2016, just released a new comprehensive report detailing their recommendations for environmental protection and youth engagement to the EPA. We’ll be joined by members of that workgroup, Anthony Torres and Eriqah Vincent, to discuss the extensive process in putting the report together and their recommendations, which include promoting youth leaders and addressing the health impacts of climate change. This episode is a must listen for organizations who promote youth leadership in their work.

For more, check out the Press Release and Report.

We’ll also be joined by leaders of the Endangered Species Coalition to discuss ongoing attacks on the Endangered Species Act, public lands and waters protections, and climate action. Despite strong public support and an extensive track record of preventing more than 99 percent of listed species from going extinct, the Endangered Species Act is being attacked under the guise of “reform” by the current Administration and politicians on Capitol Hill as part of their polluter-friendly deregulatory agenda.
